Terms and conditions
The terms that apply to every booking and hire.
1. About these terms
These terms apply to every quote, booking and hire made with InterCoach Travels Company, a company operating in the United Kingdom ("we", "us"). By making a booking you agree to them. Please read them carefully before booking.
2. Making a booking
A quote is not a binding offer. A booking is confirmed only when we send written confirmation. Quotes are valid for the period stated on them and are subject to vehicle availability and the details of your journey.
3. Prices and payment
Prices include VAT where stated and exclude fuel, tolls, parking, congestion and emission charges, and any driver overnight allowance unless we say otherwise. We may require a deposit to confirm your booking, with the balance due on or before the pick-up date. We will tell you about any additional charges before they are incurred.
4. Hirer responsibilities
The person making the booking (the "hirer") must:
- Provide accurate information about the journey, the number of passengers and the route
- Make sure all passengers behave in a safe and lawful way
- Tell us promptly of any change to their journey
- Ensure any driver who will drive a hired vehicle is authorised, licensed and meets our requirements
5. Drivers and licences
Drivers must hold the correct licence for the vehicle and meet our minimum age and experience requirements, which we will confirm at the point of booking. We may refuse to hire a vehicle where these requirements are not met.
6. Passenger capacity and safety
We will not carry more passengers than the seats and capacity allowed by law for the vehicle. Passengers must wear seatbelts where fitted and follow the instructions of the driver at all times. Drivers may refuse to carry anyone who is behaving dangerously, is under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or breaches these terms.
7. Vehicle use
Hired vehicles must not be used for racing, towing (unless the vehicle is approved for towing), carrying hazardous goods, off-road driving, illegal activity, or any purpose the vehicle is not designed for. Smoking, vaping and the carriage of animals may be prohibited, as stated in the vehicle information.
8. Insurance and damage
Each vehicle is insured for third-party liability in line with UK law. Insurance cover, any excess and the conditions that apply are set out in your booking confirmation. You are responsible for loss or damage caused by misuse, negligence, breach of these terms or unauthorised drivers, up to the amount of any excess and any cover you have not been able to claim.
9. Cancellations and changes
Cancellation, amendment and refund arrangements are set out in our refund and cancellation policy, which forms part of these terms.
10. Our liability
We are responsible for loss or damage caused by our negligence. We do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot legally be excluded. Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of profit, or delays or losses caused by events outside our reasonable control.
11. Your statutory rights
Our services are provided with reasonable care and skill, in line with the Consumer Rights Act 2015 where you are a consumer. Nothing in these terms reduces those rights.
12. Complaints
If something goes wrong, please contact us straight away so we can try to resolve it. We aim to respond to complaints within 14 working days.
13. Privacy
We handle personal information in line with our privacy policy and GDPR statement.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, unless you are a consumer resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in which case you may bring proceedings in your local courts.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version in force at the time you make a booking applies to that booking.
